Bird Watching
Bird watching beside Lutoboka Point, one of Uganda's Important Bird Areas: hornbills, kingfishers, African grey parrots and seasonal migrants.
Want to see how people on the Ssese Islands really live? Our community tours take you, with a local guide, to fishing communities, small farms and palm oil growers around Bugala Island. Expect conversation as much as sightseeing: how boats and nets are made and mended, how the day’s catch is sold, and how island families get through a working day.
It is a respectful, low-key visit rather than a show, and a good complement to our forest walks and bird watching if you want a sense of the island beyond its nature.
Combine it with the Kalangala island tour and a stop at the Sinyaland Museum to learn the history and sacred sites of the Ssese Islands.
