Guided Forest Walks
Walk into Lutoboka Central Forest Reserve, right at our boundary, with a local guide: birdsong, monkeys and quiet evergreen forest.
We offer exclusive island tours to guests, to visit, see and learn about Kalangala’s places of interest and cultural sites. These include the John Speke monument, Banga crab Bay, palm oil plantations, different fishing communities, beach peninsulas among others. In the Buganda culture, one of the main sub-clans of the monkey (nkima) clan, headed by Ssemuggala is based in Kalangala’s Bugala Island. Kalaya cave is believed to have been founded by Ssemuggala; and is believed to have been the origin of the more than 50 Buganda clans. At a rate of 150,000/42$ for up to 4pax, one can tour a selection of these sites.
A popular trip is a boat ride to one of Kalangala’s nearby forested islands, known for bird watching and wildlife such as monitor lizards and crocodiles. Under special arrangement, a longer trip can be organised to Bukasa Island, home of the 40-foot Naziri Falls; the falls and nearby caves have cultural significance to the people of the island and the rest of Buganda.
