Forest Walks

Experience Forest Bathing

Forest bathing is a special form of nature walk. It is a gentle, meditative practice of connecting with nature.

It is a practice that has been popular particularly in Japan, where it popularly known as “Shinrin-yoku”, the act of being in the presence of trees. It is said that being present, with all our senses, in a forest can produce positive mental, emotional and physical health outcomes.

In his book, “Forest Bathing: How Trees can help you find Health and Happiness”, Dr. Qing Li, a medical doctor at Japan’s Nippon Medical School provides scientific evidence of how being in the presence of trees can lower stress, boost the immune system, increase energy and so on. He also emphasizes the importance of using all senses; sight, sound, smell, touch and taste to maximize benefits.

At Philo Leisure Gardens, you can choose to spend at least two hours in the forest harnessing the health benefits of forest bathing or you can spend time lounging  amongst the trees in the garden in the companionship of tropical forest birds and monkeys.
